Unpacking
Important notes when unpacking: Please lift PLANK products carefully out of the cartons. Stacked products should not be lifted out of the cartons individually but out of the cartons as a package. For disassembled products, please follow the enclosed assembly instructions.
General Use and Care Instructions
PLANK products are designed for everyday use. To preserve their quality, please observe the following guidelines:
- Use PLANK seating furniture only for seating or their general intended use (tables); they are not intended as climbing aids.
- Avoid overloading the tables.
- Indoor products should be regularly cleaned and dried.
- Outdoor furniture should also be cleaned frequently, especially after contact with liquids or other substances. Regular drying helps maintain appearance and durability.
- For routine cleaning, use a soft dry cloth. If needed, wipe with a damp soft cloth and then dry immediately.
- Spills must be removed at once with a soft cloth or damp sponge. To clear any residue, use lukewarm water with a small amount of mild fabric softener.
- Do not use solvents containing alcohol or abrasive cleaning tools such as scouring pads. These may permanently damage surfaces.
- Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heat sources (such as radiators or open flames) can strain materials and cause discoloration over time.
Wood Surface
Wood is a natural, timeless material with an irregular texture that will naturally change over time. Natural wood, as well as varnished and stained or oiled wood surfaces, change their original color in the long run due to direct light exposure. Wood darkens due to UV light and can also be bleached by it. This is a natural process, which can be delayed by reducing exposure to light, but cannot be stopped.
Permanent influence of moisture, above all liquid accumulated at certain points (such as drips or accidental spills), can affect not only the surface texture of wood but also the appearance of the surface (wood and laminate) permanently. All wood species we use are from FSC certified origin.
Care and Cleaning of Natural Wood Surfaces
- For ordinary cleaning, we advise using a soft dry cloth.
- For stubborn stains, a slightly damp soft cloth can also be used.
- Liquids or other spilled substances must be wiped off immediately with a soft cloth or a slightly damp sponge.
- Do not use any solvents, alcohols or abrasive cleaning agents (such as scouring sponges): these substances can permanently alter the appearance of the wood.
- Avoid contact with direct heat sources (for example hot plates without a base, flames, incandescent lamps).
Treatment of Spruce Oiled
- The solid wood surface is sealed with an ecological oil, which supports the character of the wood and brings out its natural beauty. Since the pores are filled but not closed, the surface remains breathable and improves the indoor climate.
- The surface can be re-oiled. The time interval at which this is necessary depends on the level of use.
- The maintenance oil should be applied with a soft cloth in the direction of the grain and left to react for half a day. After this time, the surface should be wiped again with the oil-soaked care cloth.
